This past weekend, Tase Psychology Center had the pleasure of hosting a unique workshop on emotional resilience at this year’s Sundaze Festival, an immersive wellness gathering by Sulla Wellness Club. Hosted by our esteemed counsellor, Ishna Naresh, and alongside yoga Instructor Anggina Mutiara, we hoped to craft an experience to help participants delve into the depths of resilience through physical movement, mindfulness, and reflection.

Kicking off the workshop with an energetic yoga practice, participants were encouraged to connect with their emotions and senses through a series of movements and stretches. This practice was designed to stimulate both the body and mind, with each pose chosen to help bring physical and emotional awareness. With each stretch, breath, and balance, participants learned to remain present and grounded, essential skills for responding to stress and adversity and warming up their minds and bodies for the workshop that followed.

Our primary goal through this workshop was to guide participants to understand the true meaning of resilience and learn how to apply it to their day-to-day lives. At its core, emotional resilience was more than just staying strong during overwhelming times, it was our ability to navigate life’s challenges and choose to preserve even in the face of failure. In the process of learning emotional resilience, we highlighted the importance of giving ourselves the space and time to validate our emotions, listening to them and learning how to understand them. Emotionally resilient people aren’t immune to stress, sadness, or disappointment, but they are better able to adapt and find a way forward.

As the workshop unfolded, participants were taken through a journaling exercise that highlighted how to cultivate emotional resilience. At its core, emotional resilience is built upon three main pillars: self-awareness, self-regulation, and self-compassion. Self-awareness helps individuals recognize their emotions and identify their triggers, making it easier to understand what they’re going through. Self-regulation allows them to manage their emotional responses productively rather than reactively, fostering calm and control in the face of stress. Lastly, self-compassion is the practice of treating oneself with kindness during difficult times. By learning each pillar and knowing how to apply them, participants learn how to navigate difficult emotions with grace, patience and strength.

To everyone who joined us at Sundaze Fest, thank you for your openness, enthusiasm, and willingness to embrace the journey toward emotional resilience.
